Pastors Main and Schroder shepherd this congregation from the following convictions:
God’s Word is divinely inspired in all it's parts, and is without a single error or
contradiction. If some portions seem to contradict others, it is only because we
human beings lack the wisdom to understand it perfectly. As the bible is God’s
self-revelation, it is from that Word alone which we must derive our understanding
about God, His will for this creation, and His purpose for our lives. Man’s ideas
play no part in our understanding such matters.
- The Holy Spirit is God’s presence in the life of a believer. Without His
presence, we cannot believe in Christ as our Savor and Lord, or understand His Work
properly, or live a God-pleasing life.
- There is only one way to obtain eternal life. It is through a daily
personal relationship of sincere trust in and obedience to Jesus Christ,
God’s Son. Such a faith trusts that Jesus’ death on the cross has atoned
for all our sins, and that His resurrection from the dead is the pattern of
victory over death for all those who entrust their souls to His care and
keeping.
- Such a life is not a mere matter of the mind or intellect. Rather, it is a
matter of the heart; a surrender of our will to Jesus Christ so that as we
repent of our sins and submit our will to Him, He may rule our lives and
continue to keep us in a condition of salvation.
- The regular hearing, reading, studying, and meditating upon Holy Scripture
is a necessary part of every true believer’s life. As necessary as food is to
the body, so also is God’s Word to the soul. Without such regular feeding on
His truth, we will become spiritually weak and eventually die. Therefore, a
steady diet of God’s Word is not optional; it is necessary for spiritual life.
- Prayer is a normal part of every believer’s life. For faith in Christ
implies trusting in Christ. Such reliance on Him demands that we come to Him
in prayer; asking with the expectation that He will hear and answer. As we
ask, we will receive His good gifts in accordance with His will and not ours.
- The local congregation is a caring spiritual family. It functions best
when we assemble together regularly, study His Word regularly, and pray with
each other and for each other regularly. As such, it serves as an oasis in
the desert, providing comfort and encouragement as we live on this earth.
Apart from the church, people will be drawn away from Christ the Savior and
become like the world in their thinking. Therefore, those who are able-bodied
must come. And for those who are unable to come, the church must come to them.
