Christ Lutheran Church was founded in April 1951 as a Mission Congregation of the Women's Missionary Federation (WMF) of the former American Lutheran Church (ALC). A call was extended to Reverend Garland E. Gotoski to minister to the rapidly growing Piedmont Heights neighborhood. Seventy-five men, women and children met as a congregation in the Piedmont School gymnasium until our first church was completed and held it's first service on Easter Sunday, April 18, 1952. That church still stands on the corner of Chambersburg and Nanticoke Street. We soon outgrew that facility and purchased four acres of property on Ensign Street. Construction of the new church building began in June of 1965 and was completed March, 1966. Additions to the existing facility were made in 1991 and in 2000.

Pastor Gotoski served our congregation from June 1951 to October 1955, at which time Pastor Merill Herder ministered until January 1961. Pastor Dennis Schlossin then served as our pastor for the next 30 years until his retirement in October 1991. During that time Pastor Thomas Aadland served as assistant Pastor from August 1980 until becoming Senior Pastor of the American Association of Lutheran Churches (AALC) in September 1999. Pastor Michael Main answered the call to shepherd our congregation in January of 2000. In July of 2005, we were blessed with the additional services of our Associate Pastor Chris Schroder.

Christ Lutheran has been blessed since its inception with pastoral leaders who have been grounded in biblical inerrancy. Through the years, our pastors have shared this sound doctrine of law and gospel in their sermons and Bible studies.

Our current congregation consists of approximately 289 confirmed members and 319 baptized members.
